“Responsibility in Service: When and How to Give”

As always, the theme of this Burien Little Assembly is Service, and it follows that of the General Service Conference. Last year, the Conference focused in on the interplay of our three legacies: recovery, unity, and service.
last year's PRESENTATION THEME: “Our Primary Purpose”
"Our primary purpose is to stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety." From the AA Preamble, The foundation of our service.
PANEL TOPICS:
". . . there exists among us a fellowship, a friendliness, and an understanding which is indescribably wonderful. We are like the passengers of a great liner the moment after rescue from shipwreck when camaraderie, joyousness and democracy pervade the vessel from steerage to Captain's table. Unlike the feelings of the ship's passengers, however, our joy in escape from disaster does not subside as we go our individual ways. The feeling of having shared in a common peril is one element in the powerful cement which binds us. But that in itself would never have held us together as we are now joined.
The tremendous fact for every one of us is that we have discovered a common solution."
Tools for Recovery ” - Literature, meetings, step-work, sponsorship, service
“Service”- How do we carry the message? Opportunities and joys.
Service is vital to personal recovery. Our Primary Purpose is the goal of service. How do we carry the message? What are some of the opportunities available? What experience, strength and hope do you have in service?
Fostering a Thriving Three Legacy Culture
This is an invitation to reflect on the three sides of the triangle--recovery, service, and unity. How do we--individually, as groups, and as a collective--strengthen all three together. Are we heavily weighted in one area or another? How can we balance the Three Legacies to thrive?
